Turmeric in a Jar. Your Shining Experiment.
Imagine creating a magical light show with a simple spice. For the turmeric experiment, you only need a bottle, water, salt, a flashlight, and some turmeric. Once you place the bottle on the lamp and sprinkle in the yellow powder, a little magic begins. The particles float like golden sparks in the water and dance in the light. It feels like you're creating your own starry sky in the bottle.
What you'll need
- A clear bottle or jar
- Water
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Some turmeric powder
- Phone with flashlight
How it works

Fill your empty bottle almost to the top with water. This way, you can easily observe what happens inside. Take a teaspoon of salt and add it to the water. Stir with a spoon or gently swirl it until the salt is as dissolved as possible.

Turn on the flashlight of your phone. Place the bottle directly on the light so that it shines through the water from below.

Now carefully sprinkle some turmeric into the water. Watch how the golden-yellow particles slowly sink, float, or move.

Take your time to marvel. Hold the lamp sideways or move the bottle. Discover how the light changes and how the particles in the jar dance like little stars.
