Some play dough is just colorful. But this one is special: it smells. It smells like summer, like the garden, like lavender. When you knead it, you smell the fragrance and feel your body relax. Maybe you had an exciting school day, your head is full, or you're feeling angry because something didn't work out. Then lavender scented play dough is just what you need. While kneading, you move your fingers, think, shape balls or worms, and at the same time, the scent helps you to relax.

What you'll need

  • 1 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup of very warm water
  • 2-3 drops of lavender oil

How it works

  1. Add 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of salt, and 1 packet of citric acid to your bowl. Mix everything with a spoon.

  2. Now carefully pour 1/2 cup of very warm water into the bowl. Add a few drops of purple food coloring. Then add 2 tablespoons of oil. Stir well with the spoon. After a few minutes, continue kneading with your hands, but be careful: it's still warm!

  3. If you're using lavender oil, you can now add two to three drops to the dough. Not too much, the scent is strong. Now knead everything until the mixture is smooth. If it's too sticky, add a little flour. If it's too dry, add a few drops of water or oil.

  4. Now you can start kneading! Shape a lavender snail or just a ball of dough. Feel how the mixture moves between your fingers. Take a deep breath in between. The lavender scent can help calm and relax you.

  5. You can also store your play dough in a container. This way it stays fresh for several days. Want to give it as a gift? Then pack it in a small jar and tie a ribbon around it. Maybe for someone who needs a little peace.

  6. And if the scent gets weaker after a few days: just knead in some more lavender oil. Then it will smell just like the first day.
