What you'll need

  • Ice cubes
  • Salt
  • String
  • Plate or glass

How it works

  1. Place the ice cubes in the center of a plate or in a glass.

  2. Lay the string over one of the ice cubes.

  3. Sprinkle a little salt on the ice cube, right where the string is. Wait a moment.

  4. Then try to lift the string. The ice cube should now stick to the string!

  5. The salt makes the ice melt a bit. When the ice refreezes around the string, it holds the string tightly. This way, you can lift the ice cube like magic! Give it a try and show your friends this amazing ice magic trick!
