Grasshopper Hoppy
Imagine you are in a colorful meadow and meet a curious grasshopper named Hoppy. Hoppy wants to discover the secrets of the grasshopper world and invites you to join him on his adventure. Together, you hop across the meadow and meet the wise grasshopper Master Hopp. Master Hopp tells you about the amazing abilities of grasshoppers, like their long jumps thanks to their strong hind legs and their compound eyes for a wide field of vision. Now let's hop, explore, be creative, and have fun together!
How it works
-
Try to hop like grasshoppers! Jump as far and as high as you can. Remember, grasshoppers can jump much farther than their own body length with their strong hind legs. Who can make the longest jump?
-
Grasshopper View Imagine you have compound eyes like grasshoppers. Try to look at the world from different perspectives. Look left, right, up, and down. How many things can you observe at the same time?
-
Step: Grasshopper Song Try to imitate the sound of a grasshopper! Rub your hands or fingers together and listen to the sound they make. Can you create a song or melody from your "grasshopper song"?
-
Step: Grasshopper Meal Imagine you are a grasshopper and need to find plants to eat. Go on a search in the garden or park for different grasses and leaves (but don't actually eat them!). What plants do you find, and which ones might grasshoppers particularly like?
-
Grasshopper Hide: Grasshoppers are masters of camouflage and can hide well in their surroundings. Hide in your room or garden and let someone try to find you. How long does it take until you are discovered?
-
Take a piece of paper and your favorite pens and draw your own grasshopper. Remember to add the long hind legs and the wings.
-
Tell your own grasshopper story! Come up with a funny or exciting story about a grasshopper and write it down or tell it out loud. Have fun hopping and exploring!
