Make a Fabric Flower Crown

With some old fabric scraps and a few colorful flowers, you can create your own crown. Just use your hands, your creativity, and what you find outside. Cut three long strips of fabric, braid them into a plait, and tie them into a crown for your head. Then go outside, find beautiful flowers, and carefully tuck them into the gaps of your fabric braid. In the end, put on your crown and say, 'I made this. From what was available.'

How it works

Find some old fabric scraps. For example, an old T-shirt, a worn-out sweater, or other fabric pieces. Cut three long strips. Each should be about 1 meter long and roughly as wide as two fingers. If you need help with the scissors, ask an adult.
Lay the three strips side by side. Make a tight knot at one end to hold them together. Now braid them like a plait, alternating from outside to inside.
Braid until you are almost at the end. Make a knot there too and leave a piece of fabric loose.
Wrap the braid around your head like a headband. The ends should overlap slightly. Where it fits well, make a tight double knot to secure the crown. Now you can take it off again.
Now comes the best part. Go outside and look around. What is growing? Daisies? Clover? Chives? You might also find grasses with pretty tips. Carefully tuck the flowers into the gaps between the braids.
You can start from the front or the back. You can leave them on one side or go all around. Your idea counts. Make sure nothing pokes or presses.
When you're done, put on your flower crown. Take a look in a mirror. If you want, take a photo of your flower crown before the flowers wilt. You'll love looking back on it later. Because you didn't buy it. You made the flower crown yourself. And that's awesome!
