Keep your eyes open, be quiet and patient, and uncover the wonders hidden in and around the pond. And remember: every little find is a big treasure in the world of nature. How it works

Listen carefully and try to find the croaking of frogs. Did you know that frogs croak to communicate with each other and find a mate?
Look for water lilies. They have large, round leaves and beautiful flowers. Water lilies are more than just pretty - they also provide a safe place for many pond dwellers. Their leaves are perfect hiding spots for small animals and insects. Did you know that frogs like to sit on water lily leaves?
Watch the dragonflies. They fly quickly and look like little helicopters. Dragonflies are true flying artists. They can fly in all directions, even backwards. Can you fly in all directions like a dragonfly?
Look for small bubbles on the water's surface. Those could be fish! Did you know that fish breathe with their gills? Fish filter oxygen from the water using their gills. When they breathe, small bubbles sometimes rise to the surface.
Keep an eye out for ducks. Did you know that mother ducks lead and protect their ducklings? Mother ducks are very caring. They take their ducklings everywhere and show them how to find food.
Take a closer look at the reeds. They are long, thin, and often grow closely together like a small forest at the edge of the pond. Did you know that reeds are a great place for 'hide and seek'? Birds and small mammals use the dense reeds as a safe place to build their nests.
