A double figure eight knot is a very strong knot used for climbing or tying things together. It's like a regular figure eight knot, but you use two strands of rope instead of one. Here’s how you can do it.

How it works

Take your rope and fold it in half so that it is doubled and you have two ropes side by side. Now lay the rope on the ground as if you are making a small lake.
Imagine your rope is a water snake. The snake wraps halfway around itself.
Now the snake dips its head (the free end of the rope) into the lake. Pass the end through the loop (the "lake") that you made at the beginning.
Now pull on both ends of the rope and voilà, you have made a perfect double figure eight knot! Practice makes perfect, so keep at it and you’ll soon be a knot expert.
