During the Christmas season, you can have a special experience. You can choose your own Christmas tree. Many farms or Christmas tree plantations offer this opportunity. Together, you can look online to find places near you and check their opening hours. Large trees up to about two meters often cost around 50 euros. Once there, you walk among many fir trees. You look closely and think about which tree suits you best. How tall can it be? Where will it stand later? An adult will help with cutting it down. Often, there are saws, nets, or carts for transport. In the end, you drive home with your tree. You know where it comes from. This micro-adventure gives you time together and a Christmas tree with a story.

How it works

Search online for farms or Christmas tree plantations near you. Check opening hours, prices, and possible tree types.
Put on warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and gloves. Go with the adults to the farm or plantation. Walk among the fir trees and look around.
Think about how big your tree can be and where it will stand later. Compare shapes and heights and choose a tree.
Place the saw at the bottom of the trunk and carefully saw the tree down. If needed, get help from an adult.
Lift the tree together and carry it to the collection point. Have the tree netted on-site for safe transport. Tip: Also have the trunk cut straight at the bottom so the tree stands securely in the stand later.
Load the tree and take it home. With an adult, place the tree in the stand and give it water. First, hang up the lights, then ornaments, tags, or handmade decorations. Step back and enjoy your tree.
