Perhaps you've watched a butterfly fluttering from flower to flower. Today, you can create your own butterfly, not from a cocoon, but from tissue paper! These colorful butterflies will decorate your windows and let light shine in the most beautiful colors. Butterflies are not only beautiful; they also play an important role in nature. They help plants reproduce by carrying pollen from flower to flower. Without them, many flowers wouldn't produce new seeds! Here’s how you can make your own butterflies.

What you'll need

Square, colorful tissue paper
Brown tissue paper
Scissors
Tape

How it works

Place your square tissue paper in front of you. Fold it once to create a triangle. Make sure the edges align as closely as possible. Press the fold firmly with your fingers.
Now fold the right and left sides of the triangle upwards. You've just made the first wing!
Repeat this step with a second piece of tissue paper so your butterfly has two wings.
A butterfly also needs a body. Cut out an elongated body with antennae from the brown or colorful tissue paper.
Hold your butterfly up to the light. Doesn't it look beautiful? Stick your butterfly to the window with tape. When the sun shines on it, it will glow in the most beautiful colors.
