Rainbow Snack from Fruit

Sometimes food should look like a little work of art. With this rainbow, you decide which fruits will represent your colors. Raspberries form the red arch, mandarins the orange, pineapple brings in yellow, and kiwi provides green. In the middle, blueberries are waiting, and banana slices create the clouds. You need a good eye for arranging. How big should the next arch be? Where else can you fit fruits? While doing this, you sort by colors, compare shapes, and solve little space problems along the way. In the end, you can of course eat your artwork.

What you'll need

  • Fruits in various colors
  • For example, raspberries, kiwi, blueberries
  • Banana for the clouds
  • A plate
  • Cutting board and knife

How it works

  1. Take a close look at your fruits and sort them by color. Which fruit is red, orange, yellow, green, or blue? Think about the order in which the colors will go on your plate.

  2. Wash the fruits. Peel mandarins, kiwi, pineapple, and banana. Cut the mandarin into pieces and chop the pineapple, kiwi, banana, or other fruits into suitable sizes. Start with the red fruits on the outside. Arrange them side by side in a large semicircle.

  3. Now add the next colors. Place mandarins for orange, pineapple for yellow, and kiwi for green in arches on the plate. Each arch should be a bit smaller. You can also use other fruits in these colors.

  4. There is only a little space left in the middle. That’s where the blueberries go. Count how many blueberries fit in there. Maybe you can even estimate before placing them. Add several banana slices at both ends of your rainbow. This will create two small clouds.

  5. Done! Your own rainbow has formed from many colorful fruits. Take another look at it; maybe you even want to take a picture. Then it’s time to let the rainbow disappear piece by piece.
