Make a Bat

What you'll need
- Black construction paper
- White craft paper
- Googly eyes
- Craft glue
- Scissors
- Pine cone
How it works

Let's start with the wings. Because without wings, there’s no bat! For this, you need black construction paper. Did you know that bats have such large wings that they exceed their entire body length? You can print out a template or draw your own wings.

Cut them out and stick them into the sides of the pine cone. By the way, bats are real speed kings. Some bats can fly up to 50 km/h! The bat you create won’t be that fast, but it will be just as unique.

Every bat needs eyes. Googly eyes are the best, so it looks really funny. Glue the eyes onto the pine cone! Bats actually don’t see as well as you think. Their superpower is their echolocation system.

They emit sounds that bounce back when they hit something. This way, they know exactly where to fly, even in the dark! What would a bat be without its sharp teeth? For that, grab some white paper and cut out small triangles.

Bats have teeth, but don’t worry – they don’t drink your blood! Most bats love insects or fruit. They fly mainly at night to search for food. And during the day? They hang out and sleep. Do bats hibernate? Ask your parents and find out!
