Growth Mindset
Want to know a secret? There’s a superpower that each of us has inside: the "Growth Mindset". This way of thinking helps us believe that with effort and practice, we can always get better at what we want to do. Imagine your brain is like a muscle. The more you train it, the stronger it gets! Once upon a time, there was a little tree growing next to big trees. It thought, "I’m so small, I’ll never be as big and strong as the others." An old wise tree heard this and said, "Little tree, it doesn’t matter how big you are right now. What matters is how you grow. Believe in yourself, get enough sunlight, water, and love, and one day you will be as big as the other trees.
How it works
-
Every time you make a mistake, celebrate it! Because mistakes are opportunities to learn.
-
Read about people who have overcome challenges and get inspired.
-
Praise each other not just for successes, but especially for effort and perseverance.
-
Try a new activity or hobby. It’s not about being perfect right away, but about having fun learning.
-
Take a piece of paper and draw a tree. Each family member writes or draws something on the trunk that they want to learn, e.g., "I can’t [goal] yet". Every week, as you work on it, add leaves to the tree. Celebrate together how your tree and your skills grow.
-
With a Growth Mindset, you can learn that you can achieve anything if you keep trying and put in the effort!
