Fossil Hunters

🎂 6 + years ⏱️ 44 min 📍 Beach ⭐ hard

Today, we will become real detectives of the past! Did you know that hidden in the stones on the beach are secret messages from a long-gone time? We call these messages "fossils." Fossils are traces of animals and plants that lived a very, very long time ago. Sometimes even before the dinosaurs! Today, we are going on a fossil hunt to discover these secret messages. Along the way, we will learn more about life on Earth when it looked very different from today. We will also learn something about geology, the science that studies rocks and the Earth.

How it works

  1. Let's go on a search! Take a closer look at the stones on the beach. Look for patterns or shapes that look different from regular stones. Maybe you'll find a fossil!

  2. Imagine what the fossil once was. Could it have been part of an ancient animal? Or a plant? Tell a story about how it might have lived a long time ago.

  3. Look at the stones around the fossil. Are they smooth or rough? Are they heavy or light? Are they all the same or are there differences? This can tell you something about how old the fossil might be and how it has been preserved.

  4. If you have found enough fossils or special stones, you can create a small exhibition. Each of you can show your fossils and tell your stories about them. As fossil hunters, you contribute to uncovering the secrets of this ancient world.
