What you'll need

  • A DIN A4 sheet (white or colored)
  • Colored pencils or felt-tip pens
  • Optional: Stickers, glitter
  • A lot of imagination and joy!

How it works

  1. Place the DIN A4 sheet horizontally in front of you on the table, just like in the picture. Fold it in half so that the long edges align perfectly. Press the fold firmly with your fingers or a ruler.

  2. Unfold the paper. The previously folded line remains visible in the middle as a guide. First, take the upper left corner and fold it carefully inward until the tip is exactly on the center line. Repeat this with all corners.

  3. Fold both long sides inward so that the edges align perfectly with the center line. Press the folds firmly.

  4. Fold the two short sides inward towards the center line, creating a triangle on each side. The tips of the triangles should meet in the middle. Press the folds firmly to hold everything together.

  5. Carefully turn your folded paper over so that the back side is facing up. Now fold up the bottom third.

  6. Now fold the other side of the paper up. Tuck the corners on the right and left into the flaps created. Make sure the corners are fully inserted so that the envelope stays securely closed.

  7. Now look at the tip that points down. This tip is meant to pull the letter out later. This makes your surprise letter really exciting! Decorate and design your letter. Hearts for Valentine's Day, balloons for birthdays, or simply colorful patterns.
