How it works

Go outside and find a nice dandelion puff. Carefully hold it in your hand without blowing the fluffy seeds away!
Fill a glass with water. Get ready to discover something really cool.
Slowly dip the dandelion puff into the water. Watch closely! What happens to the seeds when they touch the water? Now slowly lift the dandelion puff out of the water.
The dandelion puff still looks dry and fluffy, almost as if it has never been in the water. That's pretty cool, right?
The dandelion puff stays dry because it is surrounded by tiny hairs that repel water. These hairs create an air layer around the seeds that keeps the water away, similar to an invisible umbrella. This way, the seeds stay dry and fluffy even underwater!
