Craft Cute Bird Chicks from Natural Materials
Imagine discovering a tiny nest hidden among leaves and branches. Inside, fluffy little chicks cuddle together. Warm, cozy, and safe. You can create such a nest yourself! With walnut shells, soft catkins, and a little beak made of paper, you can create your own bird paradise. Whether as a spring decoration on the table or as a gift for Grandma and Grandpa, your nest brings joy and nature into your home. Are you ready to get started?
What you'll need
- Half walnut shells
- Catkins (3–5 per bird nest)
- Orange construction paper
- Craft glue
- Scissors
- Optional: Moss or grass
How it works
-
Take a half walnut shell and optionally line it with some moss or grass to create a cozy nest.
-
Place three to five catkins in the walnut shell. They will form the bodies of your little bird chicks. Experiment with how they fit together best so your chicks lie comfortably in the nest. Now, only the beaks are missing!
-
For each chick, fold the orange construction paper in half and cut a small triangle along the fold. This creates a flap that will be the beak!
-
Glue it to the appropriate spot on your catkin chick. Now each chick has its own little beak. This can be a bit tricky to glue, so be patient.
-
Your bird nest is now complete and can be used as decoration in the house or as a gift. Enjoy crafting!
