Craft a Turtle from Shells

Turtles are fascinating creatures. They have been living on Earth for millions of years and have some exciting traits for you to discover. They may not move very fast, but they have a lot of patience and endurance. Some turtles can live to be very old, even over 100 years. Did you know they carry a hard house on their back? This house is called a shell, and it protects the turtle from dangers. Turtles live both in water and on land. Why not make your own turtle from shells and stones? You can display it in your room or give it as a gift to someone special.

What you'll need

Four small oyster shells
Craft glue
A small stone (for the head)
A large shell (as the shell)
Paper as a base (optional)
Watercolors and brush (optional)

How it works

Take a large shell and think about how you want your turtle to look. If you like, you can paint the shell with colors.
Place the oyster shells around the large shell so they look like legs. Try different arrangements until you like it.
Put the small stone in front of the large shell to represent the turtle's head.
Show your turtle to your friends and make up a story about what it experienced at the beach.
Now your turtle is ready! You can also assemble the turtle with glue when you're at home.
