Sound Journey Hedgehog
Join the little hedgehog on its musical adventure. As you tell the story, you can make sounds with a musical instrument or household item to bring the hedgehog's adventures to life.
What you'll need
- Drum or a cushion
- Autumn leaves or newspaper
- Rattle or rice in a can
- Xylophone or glockenspiel
- Horn or empty bottle
How it works
-
The little hedgehog wakes up from its cozy sleep. It stretches and shakes the sleep from its spines. (Use the drum or cushion to represent the gentle waking.)
-
Our hedgehog sets off and strolls along a crackling forest path. Colorful autumn leaves are everywhere. (Rustle the dried leaves or newspaper to mimic the crackling path.)
-
Suddenly, the hedgehog hears a bright laugh. It's a squirrel happily jumping between the trees. (Play some bright notes on the xylophone or glockenspiel.)
-
The squirrel suggests a game to the hedgehog: Who can roll the conker the farthest? (Use the rattle or rice in a can to represent the rolling of the conkers.)
-
While they play, a strong wind picks up. It whistles through the trees and carries the leaves away. (Use the horn or empty bottle to mimic the wind.)
-
After the wind, it suddenly becomes very quiet in the forest. The hedgehog and the squirrel listen to the silence and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. (Take a short break and enjoy the silence.)
-
The hedgehog decides it's time to go home. It says goodbye to the squirrel and curls up comfortably in its leaf nest. (Rustle the leaves again to represent nesting in the leaves.)
