Imagine being able to magically shape letters and words from colorful play dough with your hands. That's exactly what you'll do here. You'll practice your learning words in a whole new and creative way. It's a fantastic method to get really good at reading and writing.

What you'll need

How it works

First, choose a few learning words that you want to practice. Maybe you have some words that you find difficult or some that you particularly like. Place the list next to you so you can see it well.
Take the play dough and warm it up a bit in your hands. This makes it soft and easy to shape. Roll the dough into a thin snake. Then bend the snake into a letter. Start with the first letter of your word and continue until the whole word is finished.
Look closely at the shaped words. Are there letters like b and d that you easily confuse? Was the i in your words a short or a long ie?
If you find a mistake or a letter that is difficult for you, take a special color just for that letter. This will help you recognize it better next time and get it right.
Practice the words a few times. You can also turn it into a game. Finding mistakes. Someone shapes a word and you have to check if all the letters are correct.
After having a lot of fun and learning a lot, it's time to clean up. Store the dough properly so it doesn't dry out. Reflect on what you've learned today and which letters or sounds still challenge you.
