How it works

Pack a net, a bucket, a towel, and possibly a fish identification book. Also take a water bottle and a snack. Remember to keep nature clean and not leave any trash behind. Now you're ready to head out!
Find a quiet spot by the lake. Ideal places have plenty of plants and little current. Fish like to hide here. Make sure the ground is firm. Did you know that plants in the water provide shelter for fish and they like to lay their eggs there?
Look closely. Where do you see fish swimming? Observe their movements. Small bubbles on the water's surface often reveal where fish are hiding.
Hold the net with both hands, one on the handle and the other lower down for stability. Dip it lightly into the water so you don't scare the fish. Try different techniques: pulling through the water or holding it still and waiting.
If you spot a fish, approach it carefully. Patience is key, as it sometimes takes a little time. Did you know that fish can swim at different speeds? Get to know their movements!
Do you have a fish in the net? Lift it slowly and gently out of the water. Place the fish carefully in the bucket with water. This way, you can observe it well.
Take a good look at the fish. What are its special features? Is it big or small? Use your identification book to learn more about its species. After observing, gently let the fish glide back into the water. Have fun netting and discovering!
