What you'll need

  • Sheet of paper
  • Colored pencils
  • Muggle stones

How it works

  1. Place a white sheet of paper on a smooth surface. Choose your favorite colored pencil. Take a Muggle stone and gently place it on your sheet of paper, as if it were a little treasure.

  2. Now slowly move your stone without lifting the colored pencil from the paper. Go straight first, then curve. What happens when you draw small circles? Or zigzag lines?

  3. Your lines might look a bit wild at first, and that's okay. The more you practice, the smoother your Muggle stone will leave the coolest patterns.

  4. Now you can get creative! Draw small mazes, roads, or fantasy patterns. Let your Muggle stone zoom across the paper like a little race car. Imagine your paper is a city map. Where could your stone go next?

  5. Swap sheets with a friend or sibling and trace their lines. Can you hit the trail exactly? This way, you'll learn to look closely and work carefully and skillfully with your hands. The more you practice, the easier it will become.
