What you'll need

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • White chalk marker
  • White muffin tins (paper)
  • Watercolor (red)
  • Brush
  • Water container
  • LED tealights

How it works

  1. Take your toilet paper roll and think about where the door and windows could be. Draw them with the pencil. You are the architects.

  2. Carefully cut out the windows and door from the roll. Now it already looks like a little house, right? With a white chalk marker, you can outline the windows and door. Suddenly, everything looks real! A glowing edge makes it magical.

  3. Now it’s time for some color! Grab the muffin tin and paint it with red watercolor. Let it dry… and then keep going! With the chalk marker, dot white spots on the muffin tin. Big, small, or a few random splashes.

  4. Glue the muffin tin onto the toilet paper roll so that it forms the roof. Press gently to make sure everything holds well, and your little mushroom house is almost ready.

  5. Place an LED tealight inside your mushroom house and make yourself cozy! When the light turns on, the windows and doors glow like a real little fairy house. Maybe some curious forest creatures will come by soon...

  6. Or you can put it on your nightstand so you have your own little magic house every evening.
