How it works

Many birds start their courtship behaviors in spring and make themselves particularly beautiful to attract a mate. Watch how they whistle, sing, and preen their feathers.
Birds are sensitive creatures and will fly away quickly if disturbed. So be quiet and observe them with your binoculars.
Look for at least 5 different species of birds and note down which birds you have seen and what they look like.
Many birds build nests in spring to incubate their eggs. Observe how they gather materials and construct their nests. Check your garden or park for trees, bushes, and hedges. Do you see any nests?
In spring, baby birds also hatch from their eggs. Watch how they are fed by their parents and grow. Remember to observe the nests from a safe distance so you don't disturb the birds.
Listen carefully to the different bird calls. Try to mimic some bird sounds by whistling them. Have fun!
