Baking Pretzel Football
Here's a fun idea that's not only delicious but also super exciting! You can bake a football using frozen pretzel sticks. This will be a hit at any football night or party and is a lot of fun to make. So, roll up your sleeves and let's get started! Note: Adults need to help when handling the hot oven and baking tray!
What you'll need
- Frozen pretzel sticks
- Poppy seeds and sesame seeds
- A round cake pan
How it works
-
Let the frozen pretzel sticks thaw first. Just place them on a tray or plate for about 30 minutes. Make sure they don't touch each other so they thaw evenly. During this time, you can think about how you want your football to look.
-
Take one pretzel stick and cut it into pieces. Roll each piece between your palms until it forms a nice round ball. Repeat this with all the pretzel sticks until you have many small balls.
-
Put some poppy seeds in a small bowl and sesame seeds in another. Now you can dip your pretzel balls in either poppy seeds or sesame seeds until they are well coated. They not only look great but taste amazing too!
-
Place the finished pretzel balls close together in a round cake pan. They should touch slightly so they stick together while baking and create a nice pattern.
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and bake the pretzel balls for about 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown. Let them cool a bit afterward. While they are baking, you can use the time to talk about your favorite football players.
-
While the pretzel balls are baking, you can prepare some tasty dips. Here's a simple recipe: Herb Quark: • 250 g quark • 2 tbsp yogurt • Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley) • Salt and pepper Mix all the ingredients well. The herb quark tastes fresh and goes well with the pretzel balls.
-
Once the pretzel balls are baked and the dips are ready, you can serve everything together and enjoy. Maybe you feel like watching a football game or having a little football match in the garden.
