Advent Candle for the Window
In this craft idea, you will create an Advent candle that shines like a small light in the window. The candle has a sturdy frame made of black construction paper. Inside, it glows because you use tracing paper. This makes it look like the candle is burning when daylight or lamps shine through. The yellow flame represents light and warmth. The colorful part at the bottom shows that Advent can have many colors: joy, peace, hope, surprises. While crafting, you decide how your candle should look. You will learn to cut accurately, recognize shapes, and choose colors. You will realize that with simple steps, you can create something that brings a special atmosphere to your window later.
What you'll need
- Black construction paper
- A pair of scissors
- Pencil
- Bookbinding foil
- Tracing paper
How it works

First, draw the outer shape of the candle on the black construction paper. Then, draw the same shape inside with about 1 cm distance. This creates a wide border. Carefully cut out the inner part.

Cut a piece of bookbinding foil to size and glue it from the back onto the frame. Press it down well.

Cut the tracing paper: yellow at the top for the flame, colorful at the bottom for the candle part. Glue everything onto the foil.

Hang your candle in the window. As soon as light shines through, it will start to glow.
